Ensete Glaucum The new kid on the block, a recent introduction which is proving extremely popular.
Tall growing 18-20 feet with large green leaves with a almost luminescent chalk covering. This Ensete originates in China growing at high altitudes so should be as hardy as Musa Basjoo. Being a gross feeder, large amounts of  fertilizer will be necessary throughout summer months to sustain its large appetite. Superb as a specimen plant, the pseudotrunk should be protected in the winter months.

Musa Yunnan  This is also a new introduction to the UK. Until recently no one had heard of Musa Yunnan. Some botanists are saying that it could be a variant of Musa Basjoo but are really not sure. Yes it does have some M Basjoo characteristics but its growth habits are different. It has been given a popular name of Snow Banana because in its natural habitat Yunnan in China it can indeed be covered in snow. Its hardiness rating has been given as similar to M Basjoo. Trials are under way  to establish how  low a temperature it can  endure.

Ensete Maurelii Lady in Red! A superb banana in red maroon green with shades of chocolate. Standing alone or in groups a wonderfully tropical looking plant. The backs of the leaves a rich maroon which look sumptuous in sunlight. Cold tolerant but will require lifting in the autumn for protection.
This plant will grow in part shade but the colours are more intense in a sunnier place. Too shady a spot and the plant reverts to all green.
Height about 12 feet in cooler climates.
